Llamas
The llamas began with a small group of three in 1995 as a way to engage the family in a fun activity. We eventually grew to a herd of close to 50 and formed a 4-H group to expose these wonderful creatures to others. Carefully selecting for disposition, fiber, conformation and a gorgeous face has led up to the magnificent small herd we have today.
Our llamas are consistently at the top of their show classes and have been # 1 in the ILR UAP fleece on and shorn fleece in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
We look forward to being involved in llama activities and shows in the Eastern US. A member of the North American Fiber Cooperative, we have numerous fiber items including fleeces, yarn, socks and blankets for sale.
Our current herd sire is Serafeo, a wonderful boy from the legendary Hinterland breeding program. Serafeo is an ILR Halter and Fleece Champion and won the first ever-composite class at the ILR Gathering.
Cabernet’s Machi Malbec is a great example of our breeding programs utilizing a strong dam line (Pinot Blanc daughters) crossed with an outstanding stud (Argentine Mach One).
Cabernet’s Chardonnay has exquisite fleece which continually “wows” judges with it’s hand and luster.
